Through the Eyes of a Child
While watching an old Andy Griffith episode one day, my 6-year-old grandson piped up with a question. “Why don’t they want that man to sing, Nonna? He sings real good!” That man was Rafe Hollister who, with his golden singing voice, had won a contest to sing at the Ladies’ Society Musicale.
A world filled with kindness and altruism would be wonderful, wouldn’t it? But it is a sad fact that we live in a world in which malice and selfishness reign supreme. And where malicious gossip and slander cause untold pain and anguish.
Today I’m looking back, way back. Yesterday was Dad’s birthday and he would have been 87. He passed away last year, just 4 days before his 86th birthday. I miss him still and always will. Especially because of all the lost years. All my years overseas, so far from family.
Amusing Moments with Neighbors
Our neighbors are mostly elderly, simple folk with little education. Bewildered by our rapidly changing world, they often struggle with using technology. So they tend to stick to the way they’ve always done things. And that can give rise to some pretty crazy conversations!
